The surgery for this cancer is usually done when the cancer is at the advanced stage. This surgery is called as esophagectomy in which the cancerous mass is removed from the body.
There are three types of
esophageal cancer surgery:
: This is the surgery to remove the cancer mass form the body. In this operation the surgeon removes the cancerous cells and destroy the part or layer of the esophagus. They sometimes even destroy the surrounding lymph nodes along with the fundus (upper portion of stomach).
This operation involves the neck and the abdomen region.
This operation involves the abdomen and the chest region of the body.
When required, the surgeons perform the surgery using the laproscopic techniques. This is an advance technique which requires only four or five small cuts or hole and post operation only one or two stitches. This causes very less pain and trauma to the patient and they don’t even have to spend huge amount for paying and staying at the hospital.
